NAIPTA

NAIPTA services received a 5.7M grant from the federal government as part of the recently signed current fiscal year budget. The federal grant provides for capital expenses such as the purchase of new hybrid electric buses and infrastructure toward the completion of the Mountain Links project approved by voters in the 2008 city elections.

NAIPTA's General Manger, Jeff Meilbeck projects that due to a decrease in transit tax revenue, funds for operating the Mountain Links route are currently not available. "Receiving this federal grant is great news and NAIPTA is honored to have been selected for this multi-year competitive project.  However, it is important for the public to understand that this grant may not be used to shore up our local revenue shortfall."  He continues "our number 1 priority now is to continue the post election service expansion we initiated last fall and maintain service at the levels riders have come to expect”.
